Have Beneficiaries Sign Receipt of Distribution
Once Assets have been finally transferred to Heirs and Beneficiaries, it's important that they sign a Receipt for a Distribution, also known as a Receipt for a Disbursement.
These forms are used as legal evidence of the distribution; the Beneficiary's signature confirms that they have received the Asset or property and accepted it as their own.
These receipt forms are not only important to protect the Administrator or Executor from potential liability, but are typically required by Probate Court in order to close the Estate.
Typically, they're provided by Probate Court and their submission at the end of Probate signals that it is nearly over.
