Obtain Inventory Form

An Inventory Form is official paperwork provided by local Probate Court that identifies what debts and Assets are required to catalog in order to settle an Estate.

Before cataloging all debts and assets of the deceased, obtain the required forms to review processes and procedures.

This paperwork will identify not only what information is required, but how it's meant to be catalogued by its submission deadline.

Generally, sections of this form include, but are not limited to:

  • Real estate

  • Personal property

  • Bank accounts

  • Retirement, 401k / IRA

  • Debts

Note: in some states, certain Assets classified as Non-Probate Assets are not subject to Probate Court oversight, but still required for inventory.

To better differentiate between Probate Assets and Non-Probate Assets, review the Categorize as Probate or Non-Probate section of the checklist.
