Review Organ Donation Needs
After a death, the deceased's organs can be donated to others in need, or donated to science for research purposes.
Note: if the wishes of the deceased are unknown, it may be stated on their driver's license
- If the deceased was an organ donor and died in hospice or a hospital, staff will help to facilitate the donation process
- For deaths which happen elsewhere, speak with authorities for more information regarding next steps
- If the deceased did not leave organ donation instructions, then state law dictates who can make this decision; typically, the Executor of Estate or Durable Power of Attorney (DOA) who has the authority to sign consent forms
